Below are photos showing the progress of four days work, building
a shed dormer. A dormer like this usually contains two bedrooms
and one bath.

Notice the section of roof
missing along the entire length of the house. This is done so
we can install new floor joists without removing the entire
rear section of roof.

When we build dormers time is of the
essence. Extra precautions must be taken to ensure the house
will be watertight during construction.

As you can see from this
side view we had to extend the front roof rafters to get an acceptable
roof pitch. Too little pitch invites problems with ice and snow.
